Biography
Mao Ye (BA ‘99 Southeast University, MA ‘02 Renmin University of China, MA ‘04 University of British Columbia) was selected by the student body to serve a two-year term as trustee beginning July 1st, 2006, marking the first time Cornell has elected a student trustee from China. Mr. Ye will serve as a member of the following committees: Student Life, Academic Affairs, Alumni Affairs and Development, and Trustee Community Communications.
Mr. Ye is currently pursuing a doctorate in economics, having been the first student in Cornell economics department to pass both Ph.D. qualification tests without taking any courses at Cornell. He is the Graduate and Professional Assembly representative to Student Health Insurance Advisory Committee, and a member of Cornell University Debate Team. Additionally, Mr. Ye actively promotes international student interests at Cornell through such organizations as Friends of International Students and Scholars at Cornell, of which he is a founding member.
Mao Ye resides in Ithaca with his wife Xi Yang, who is also a doctorate student at Cornell.
