Cornell University Student Assembly Committee on Residential and Community Life Agenda: February 16, 2009
- Welcome
- Group Updates
- Rammy Salem: Federal Financial aid trip is still open. Interested students should contact him (rms28)
- Campus Life Sustainability Projects Update (Natalie Raps)
- Sustainability Competition is going on in North Campus buildings
- There’s a group that soliciting members from Cornell for a project to coordinate activities related to raising awareness about sustainable practices on college campuses.
- Natalie has signed on for Cornell and will keep us updated as there’s progress.
- GIDE Committee
- At a recent CLSAC meeting, Don Sevey came to talk to about the GIDE committee- a mainly employee committee to brainstorm ways to reduce operational costs at the university
- They wanted student input
- Interested students should contact Nikhil to be on the committee (njk38)
- TCAT Issues
- Emily Cusick was unable to attend this meeting but passed along that there was a meeting about the TCAT route changes
- Committee members discussed potential questions that TCAT might be asked about route changes and the impact on students.
- Questions can be emailed to Nikhil who will passed them along to�somebody (njk38)
- Housing Lottery Information
- Virtual walk-thru was well-received
- Freshmen members reported hearing positive reviews from friends
- Program houses
- Members brought up that Freshmen were hearing a strong push from program houses to draw more applicants
- Housing Lottery Follow-Up
- An idea was brought up by Nikhil, discussed earlier last semester, about conducting a follow-up feedback session with students
- Could be online (working with SA Office and exploring ways to do this using the current website) and/or in person
- Potentially using existing avenues like the SA Facebook group or SA meetings
- Members are asked to bring ideas to next Monday’s meeting
- Planning would have to begin relatively soon
- Virtual walk-thru was well-received
- Diversity Issues
- Rammy and Nikhil looking for students interested in participating in small groups to examine the effectiveness of the Bias Related Incident protocol currently in place in Residence Halls
- New Projects
- Natalie Raps: a weeknight shuttle from libraries to housing
- Would operate between 8pm-12am on weeknights
- Proposed: separate from TCAT
- Tony Miller suggested she talk to Ryan Lavin to get more details; could be similar to SafeRide
- Sid Nadkarni raised the question about cardswipes at the High Rises
- Andrew Flye replied that the RSC had looked into the matter, done cost-benefit analysis and were told that the project was not feasible
- Natalie Raps: a weeknight shuttle from libraries to housing
- Next meeting: February 23, 2009 (5pm, Rockefeller Hall B-15)
