New Policies Fall 2006
- Semester Budgets Only: The SAFC is switching to semester budgets to be more fair in the allocating of funds. Annual budgets will not be available this year. Only Semester Budgets will be accepted and funded.
- Price Quote and Documentation Clarification: See Price Quote and Documentation Requirements section in the P&T Handbook for clarification on what will be accepted.
- New Copy Max: The SAFC will only fund for a maximum of 1,000 full-page copies in the administrative expenses section of the budget.
- Phone Costs: The SAFC will not fund for telephone calls or expenses.
- Local Events: Speaker events will only be funded with proof a venue is reserved and proof the speaker is actually coming. See the Local Events section for details.
- Costumes/Props: Non-rented clothing, costumes, or props will not be funded.
- Non-Durable Office Supplies: Pens, pencils, markers, paper, or other non-durable office supply type goods will not be funded under any circumstances
- Books: The SAFC will not fund for books or magazines that are available at any of the Cornell Libraries. Please bring a search result from the Cornell Library website to prove this.
- Travel Events: The SAFC will fund for up to 4 students for a travel event. More than 4 students per event must have additional documentation to specify this need. Also, the SAFC will fund for 1 travel event per priority. The only exception to this is for competitive clubs that have a scheduled regular season, which the SAFC will fund as 1 priority.
- Co-Organized Events: All groups applying for a Co-Organized event must also fill out a budget for their individual group or fill out part 1 of an individual budget. A group may only be part of 1 Co-Organized Event per semester. Co-Organized events are done on a semesterly basis, and the event must occur in the semester applied for. All Co-Organized budgets must comply with Category 2 rules.
- President and Treasurer’s Test: ALL Presidents and Treasurers must take the new president and treasurer before they turn in their red budget packets. Also: ALL Presidents and Treasurers are required to take the P&T test every semester, regardless of whether they have taken it in the past. Budgets turned in without the Statement of Ethical Conduct, which is printed out after taking the test, will not be accepted. See the test online at assembly.cornell.edu/safc/ and the P&T Handbook for more details.
- Club Sports: The SAFC designates club sports teams as those non-varsity teams that meet regularly during their season to represent Cornell University in inter-collegiate athletic competitions. See definition in P&T Handbook.
- Notes from the SAFC:
- Events funded by the SAFC (both for groups and co-organized events) must occur in the semester for which the funding was requested.
- The SAFC is not held to any previous semester funding decisions. The merits of a budget will be evaluated on a semester-by-semester basis. In the past, the SAFC has had to institute percentage cuts and caps on all budgets.
