III. Business of the Day

E-board Elections/New Commissioners/Handbook/Database

D. Lederman started by saying that last Thursday, the SA passed the SAFC’s bi-line funding application, so the SAFC will have more money next year.

L. Falcone added that the Figure Skating Team unfortunately did get funding, but no other appeals passed the SA so “way to go”.

D. Lederman said that the Figure Skating Team “cried to get the money”.

L. Falcone added that Resolution 7 passed. Resolution 7 was a resolution to help get rid of duplicate groups. She also met with the Club Sports Counsel to help them create a better definition of was “Club sport”. If the definition passes the SAFC it will be added into the new handbooks. The club sports will also soon get their very own funding.

L. Falcone started on the main business of the day. First she mentioned that the SAFC will be bringing commissioners up for attendance violations. Next she said that the E-Board elections will be November 7th, so if a commissioner is considering running, they should meet with one of the current E-Board members. She also asked that all the commissioners be at the November 7th meeting and stay for all three hours of it because it will be an important meeting.

D. Lederman moved onto the new commissioners. The SAFC will have applications due either the 17th of 18th of November then interviews will be the next weekend. He said it should take about four to five hours for the interviews. He also mentioned that an email would be sent out with the exact dates.

M. Wilson said that each commissioner should use their connections in the Cornell campus to get the new members that way we know that the candidates should be pretty good.

K. Nadolny said “Don’t not encourage people to apply”. She next moved on to the brainstorming sessions to fix the President and Treasurers Handbook. She said that after this meeting anyone who stays will help and brainstorm ideas.

L. Falcone moved onto the database. She said that the office of the assemblies has a new temp. to fill in for Martin Lang and his name is Ari Epstein. She then passed out copies of the old database and instructed the commissioners to put any suggestions they have directly on their copy of the database. The due date for these suggestions is next week’s meeting.

D. Lederman said that this year’s budget was very poor so please help it out.

-Tim Lim and Michelle Fernandes enter the room.

K. Nadolny said that each table should pick a category and rip through it.

Tim Lim gave his thanks for all of the SAFC’s work. He then asked how the commission could fix the issues with funding groups.

K. Timmermans said that each group should only be able to ask up to $10,000.

Tim Lim then added he “wanted a boat”.

L. Falcone said that any way that the commission could help the groups with funding should also be brought up during the brainstorming session that will occur after this meeting. She then reminded the entire commission of the dates that were previously brought up. She finally added that more details will be sent out by email.

K. Nadolny lastly said that all commissioners should write down everything they talk about, including typos and inconsistencies, in the brainstorming groups.

IV. Meeting ended at 5:15 pm.
