Student Assembly Communications Committee November 7, 2012 6:45pm to 7:15 pm 1st Floor Conference Room, WSH
I. Call to Order
II. University Communications Debrief
- 1. Implementing a new events email working off of the Cornell Events Calendar
- i. Using the email as a hub
- 2. Requiring SAFC organizations to register their events
- 3. Drawing information from the UUP
- 4. Action Step: Google doc listing organizations that committee members are
interested in reaching out to and including in the new email
III. PR Strategy Discussion
- 1. Twitter — Post more often, ideally on the daily basis
- i. Develop a different type of following → harness the twitter-using
community
- 2. Get students to feel invested → Joint effort between PR and Outreach
- i. Finding ways to reach the majority of campus
- 3. Increase committee member involvement in other issues besides PR and Outreach
- 4. Humanize the Student Assembly → SA Members should be out getting to now
people and shaking hands
IV. PR Task Delegation
- 1. Action Step: Google form polling member about preferences about next week
- 2. Facebook → ensuring that members don’t unsubscribe
- i. Solution: Provide relevant content → do not over publicize
- 3. Action Step: Committee members should decide every week to publicize 1–2
issues on Facebook/Website
- 4. Action Step: Figure out ways to make the SA more approachable
- 5. Action Step: Reach out HumEc, AAP, Eng schools to get a committee member
from those schools
- 6. Long Term Action Plan: Create an Outreach Strategic Plan
