SA Appropriations: Minutes March 31, 2009

COTA -wants money for orientation events for transfers Events:

-Campfire event on West
-Cornell Cinema event
-Collegetown tour
-Transfer dinner at west campus dining hall
-Transfer olympics on West
-Transfer Bowling

Asking for $3,400 in total

-Members expressed interest in working with the OSC so that in future years the OSC budgets for events like these -However, members mentioned possibly giving a one time gift -Member motioned to table until OSC and COTA reps could be present -Motion passed

IVy Europe/Middle Easy Summit -G Mezey reported on the purpose of the conference -Listed the costs $2000 for transportation $1000 for lodging $250 for Food $250 programming fee -2 delegates looking to go: B Letterman, A Latella -So, looking for $7k total -Member asked how much money is already spent on Ivy Council in the SA Budget and how much money is left over

-G Mezey reported that Ivy Council has spent all their budgeted money

-Member expressed opinion that people going on these trips do gain a lot personally from going and so personal contribution is expected -Members asked what students at-large would get out of paying for 2 students to go on the trip -G Mezey reiterated the goals of the event -Member pointed out that it would be great PR for Cornell to send students to this conference -Several numbers were suggested: $700, $1000, $2000 Each number was voted on in turn $2000 - 3–6 $1000 - 7–2 - $1000 passed

SA/SUNY Conference Funding -SUNY conference this spring in Rochester -Rammy is the SA liaison to the SUNY student government -Hotel $202, $95 per attendee (x2) = $392 -Apps Comm members were in support of the initiative -By a vote of 8–0, Apps Comm supported funding the conference, contingent on finding a second person to attend.
