Dear President Skorton,

I would like to convey Resolution 20: Recognition of AIDS Awareness Week to you. This resolution was co-sponsored by SA Executive Vice President Juliana Batista and AIDS Awareness Week Co-chairs Alexander Brown and Madeline Gerrick.

The SA has recognized AIDS Awareness Week for several years in a row, and SA members continue to believe that this is a cause that all students should support. Much of the discussion was focused on whether AIDS Awareness Week should be integrated into the SA’s governing documents, and although this may be revisited in the future, the sponsors believe that this annual resolution is a great way for them to publicize, and gain support for their work. Ultimately, it is just important that we talk about these issues, no matter what bureaucratic form they are in.

I wish the Co-chairs the best of luck in their planning. I hope that future assemblies continue to show this support.
