SA: Resolution 19: Support for the Allocation of Space to the Cornell Outing Club

Sponsored by: Brendan Brown ‘15, Sarah Balik ‘15

Whereas, the Student Assembly supports the Cornell Outing Club’s (COC) mission to “promote[s] outdoor recreation, the appreciation of nature, and the development of a competent and self-sufficient outdoor community”;

Whereas, all students can benefit from the services and activities provided by the COC;

Whereas, the COC needs space to store gear, and facilitate outdoor trips;

Whereas, Cornell University Facilities has asked the COC to cease use of and vacate their historic home, Japes Lodge, by November 15th, 2012 indefinitely due to insufficient funds for repair of water damage;

Be it therefore resolved, that the SA strongly supports the allocation of space for storage of the COC’s gear by Cornell University.

Respectfully Submitted,

Brendan Brown, ‘15
President, Cornell Outing Club

Sarah Balik, ‘15
Agriculture and Life Sciences Representative
