S.A. Resolution #20: Why a Pub is Needed More Than Ever Before
Sponsored by: Natalie Raps ‘12, Robert Callahan ‘14, Adam Gitlin ‘13, Adam Nicoletti ‘12, Alex Bores ‘13, Dan Freshman ‘12, Erin Szulman ‘12
Whereas, the Student Assembly created the SA Late Night Programming Ad Hoc Committee in the Spring of 2011.
Whereas, the Committee has recommended establishing the Ivy Lodge (used hereafter but permanent name still to be determined) to provide a safe environment for the purpose of on campus late night programming.
Whereas, the Ivy Lodge Programming Committee is committed to providing consistent entertainment and programming for students under and over 21.
Whereas, Cornell Dining is in charge of the Lodge’s food and drink expenses whilst the Ivy Lodge Programming Committee oversees its functional space for student activities and events.
Whereas, the Lodge is meant to foster a more sustainable community among Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors than currently seen on campus.
Whereas, the Student Assembly and the Lodge Programming Committee are committed to seeing the Lodge function for years to come.
Whereas, Cornell Dining is expecting a loss no more than three years after the full opening of the Lodge.
Be it therefore resolved, that if Cornell Dining is running at a significant deficit in their overall budget due to the Ivy Lodge three years after it operates functionally with food and alcoholic beverage, student action to address this issue will be taken.
