S.A. Resolution #17: Smoking Habits & Behavior Investigation
Sponsored by: Geoffrey Block ‘14, D. Kuhr ‘13, Ulysses Smith ‘13, Nate Treffeisen ‘12
Whereas, many municipalities and universities are enacting smoke-free ordinances and policies;
Whereas, smoking on Cornell’s campus has become an area of conflict in recent years;
Whereas, Cornell and the Student Assembly seek to foster a healthy living environment for all students, faculty, and staff;
Whereas, the Student Assembly maintains the authority to determine community opinion regarding matters of student concern;
Be it therefore resolved, that the SA devise a series of methods to determine the sentiments of undergraduate students regarding smoking;
Be it further resolved, that this be done under the leadership of the Student Health & Communications Task Forces and the Committee on Residence & Community Life;
Be it finally resolved, that the results of this investigation be communicated via a report to be presented at the end of the fall semester and forwarded to the GPSA, EA, UA, and Faculty Senate.
Respectfully Submitted,
Ulysses Smith ‘13
