From the Cornell Assemblies
Whereas, Cornell University enacted a hiring freeze at the height of the financial crisis, leading to the failure to hire a second full-time employee for the LGBT Resource Center; and
Whereas, the second position at the LGBT Resource Center remains unstaffed; and
Whereas, the job description for this second position states that the individual should spend approximately 40% of their time as the adviser for the byline funded student organization Haven: The LGBTQ Student Union; and
Whereas, the role of adviser to Haven: The LGBTQ Student Union does not appear in the job description of any other administrative position; and
Whereas, Haven: The LGBTQ Student Union has gone without an adviser for over two years;
Be it therefore resolved, that the Student Assembly asks the administration of Cornell University seek to fill a second full-time position for the LGBT Resource Center as soon as possible; and
Be it further resolved, that a representative of Haven: The LGBTQ Student Union be allowed to participate meaningfully in the hiring process for the aforementioned position.
Respectfully submitted,
Matt Danzer ‘12
Student Assembly LGBTQ At-Large Representative
