SA: April 15, 2011 Letter from President Skorton

Dear Vincent,

I am writing regarding SA Resolution#2 - Conflict-Free Campus Resolution.

We appreciate how thoughtful this resolution is regarding the elimination of doing business in areas that trade in conflict materials. At this time, it’s difficult to assess whether any of these materials are used in our IT components supply chain. The University currently utilizes over 140 suppliers in our Information Technology, Broadcasting and Telecommunications commodity. The University is willing to perform an assessment over the summer by writing letters to all our publically owned suppliers and investment funds requesting a copy of their respective annual reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Based on a subsequent analysis from the information gathered, the University will be in a better position to assess the impact and develop a position.

We reviewed our records and were able to locate the email I sent to SA on 11/11/10 regarding Resolution #2. I have attached it for your records.
