Resolution 64
Whereas, Resolution 9, UA Undergraduate Representative Application Process, did not specify that the replacement for an unfilled UA seat should be the highest-ranking non-winning candidate from the preceding spring election;
Whereas, the Charter currently does not restrict the highest-ranking non-winning undesignated at-large from the preceding spring election from filling both SA and UA vacancies during the same academic year, thus potentially allowing this candidate to be considered for positions on both governing bodies concurrently;
Be it therefore resolved, the Bylaw 1.15.a shall be changed to read: If at any time during the course of an academic year, a UA member elected directly from the undergraduate student body should leave his office, then the seat shall be filled by the next highest-ranking non-winning candidate. If there should not be a next highest-ranking non-winning candidate after the fall special election, the seat shall be filled by the highest-ranking non-winning undesignated at-large candidate in the preceding spring election.
Be it finally resolved, that Bylaw 1.15.b shall be added to the Charter to read:
The highest-ranking non-winning undesignated at-large candidate of the preceding spring election cannot be eligible to fill vacancies on both the UA and SA should vacancies in both bodies occur during the same academic year.
Respectfully submitted,
