Student Assembly

As adopted Thursday, 23 April 2009.

Whereas, Cornell University adopts principles and policies that foster an equal opportunity and anti-discriminatory environment.

Whereas, Cornell University’s Open Doors, Open Hearts, and Open Minds policy stands for civil discourse, reasoned thought, sustained discussion, and constructive engagement without degrading, abusing, harassing, or silencing others.

Whereas, The Student Assembly is chartered under the Board of Trustees and the University President, and therefore falls under Cornell’s institutional guidelines

Whereas, Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship is a registered student organization and receives SAFC (a portion of the Student Activity Fee - set and allocated by the Student Assembly) funding and therefore falls under university guidelines and principles.

Whereas, the Statement on Ethical Conduct for SAFC Student Organizations states that, “Cornell University and the SAFC support an environment in which harassment of others is not tolerated. Any student acting on behalf of a student organization may not use positions of authority to influence others� or violate SAFC, or University regulations, policies or practices.”

Be it therefore resolved, that the Student Assembly finds Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship in violation of the aforementioned policies.
