R.32 Assembly Support of Collegetown Urban Plan and Design Guidelines
Originally Presented On: | April 9, 2009 |
Sponsors: | Svante Myrick, Ryan Lavin, Chris Basil |
Subject of Resolution: | Assembly Support of Collegetown Urban Plan and Design Guidelines |
Status/Result: |
Whereas, the Collegetown Urban Plan and Design Guidelines have been drafted by the consultants Goody Clancy, the economic consultants WHZA, the transportation consultants of Nelson Nygard, and the legal consultants at Code Studios having been paid for with a $90,000 contribution from the university, matched by a $90,000 contribution from the City of Ithaca as well as thousands of dollars of additional staff time;
Whereas, the Common Council of the City of Ithaca is currently considering the adoption and implementation of the Collegetown and Urban Plan and Design Guidelines;
Whereas, the 18 month moratorium on construction in Collegetown is set to expire April 1, 2009;
Whereas, the legislation that is currently in place regulating development in Collegetown is lacking;
Whereas, the Assemblies system at Cornell believes that the proposed Urban Plan and guidelines represent a vision for the future of Collegetown which will contribute greatly to the overall quality of life at the university and in the City of Ithaca;
Be it therefore resolved, the Student Assembly, the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly, the Employee Assembly, the Faculty Senate, and the University Assembly urge the City of Ithaca to adopt the Collegetown Urban Plan and Design Guidelines and implement the necessary legislation to ensure the appropriate development in Collegetown;
Respectfully submitted,
Svante Myrick
Ithaca Common Councilman
