R.29 Creation of an Undergraduate Housing Rate Scale
Originally Presented On: | March 5, 2009 |
Sponsors: | Sanjiv Tata, Nikhil Kumar |
Subject of Resolution: | Creation of an Undergraduate Housing Rate Scale |
Status/Result: |
Whereas, there exists a substantial difference in the quality of facilities within the West Campus House units (specifically between the Gothic Residence Halls and the West Campus Houses)
Whereas, many of Cornell’s peer institutions (such as Columbia University, Pennsylvania State University, Stanford University, and University of California-Berkeley) recognize similar differences by establishing a scale of undergraduate housing rates
Whereas, the Student Assembly and the Residential Student Congress recognize the burdens placed on both the student body and the University by the current financial situation
Whereas, the University is currently reevaluating its long-term Housing Master Plan
Be it therefore resolved, by a joint recommendation of the Residential Student Congress and the Student Assembly, that the Housing Master Plan reflect the difference in quality of residential facilities by creating scaled housing rates for the West Campus housing units
Be it further resolved that, that this recommendation shall be implemented at a later date to be determined based upon the financial health of the university.
Respectfully Submitted,
Sanjiv Tata
President, Residential Student Congress
