R.7 Reprinting of Resolutions and Other Documents

Originally Presented On:Thursday, September 18, 2008
Sponsors:Kate Duch, Becca Smith
Subject of Resolution:Reprinting of Resolutions and Other Documents
Status/Result:-

Whereas, the Student Assembly approved Resolution 26 in the spring of 2008 to stop the unnecessary and wasteful printing of SA meeting minutes, instead opting to review and edit the minutes electronically;

Whereas, the purpose of the aforementioned resolution was to decrease the quantity of wasted paper;

Whereas, the Office of Assemblies has historically provided binders for new representatives for Student Assembly materials;

Whereas, the minority of resolutions and other documents are edited between meetings;

Whereas, 23 unnecessary sheets of paper are reprinted for each (unedited) resolution discussed by the Assembly, totaling nearly 700 unnecessary sheets of paper per year if approximately 30 resolutions are discussed, as in the 2006–07 and 2007–08 academic years;

Whereas, students, faculty, employees, and administrators alike are supportive of sustainability initiatives;

Be it therefore resolved, that the Office of Assemblies continue to distribute binders to representatives new to the Assembly;

Be it finally resolved, that the Student Assembly of Cornell University stop reprinting resolutions and all other documents that have not been altered from a prior meeting.

Respectfully submitted,

Kate Duch
