R.13 Resolution Supporting Cornell’s New Financial Aid Policy
Originally Presented On: | - |
Sponsors: | The Cornell University Student Assembly |
Subject of Resolution: | Support of Cornell’s New Financial Aid Policy |
Status/Result: | - |
Whereas, under Cornell University new financial aid policy announced January 31, 2008, students whose families make less than $75,000 a year will receive grants in place of the traditional need-based loans, while those from families with incomes between $75,000 and $120,000 will see their loans capped at $3,000 a year for the 2009–2010 academic year.
Whereas, with the exception of a $750 emergency loan, Cornell currently does not offer financial assistance for international undergraduate students;
Be it therefore resolved that the Student Assembly lauds Cornell’s commitment in providing students an affordable education with the announcement of the University’s new financial aid policy;
Be it further resolved, that Cornell continues to address financial aid issues for undergraduate students, including the inclusion of financial aid for international students;
Be it further resolved that the Student Assembly will work with the Office of Alumni Affairs, President Skorton, and Provost Biddy Martin, in efforts of support for Cornell’s new financial aid policy;
Be it finally resolved that this resolution be sent to President David J. Skorton, President of Cornell University; Provost Biddy Martin, Provost of Cornell University; Chairman Peter C. Meinig, Chairman of the Cornell University Board of Trustees
Respectfully submitted,
The Cornell University Student Assembly
