GPSA: May 2, 2013 Letter from President Skorton Re: R. 16

Dear Mitch:

Thank you for sending Resolution 16: GPSA Diversity & International Students Committee. The proposed amendment to the GPSA bylaws to create a dedicated committee focusing on the needs and interests of diverse and international students is a thoughtful response to issues raised in the Graduate and Professional Community Initiative as well as an important reinforcement of the goals established in Toward New Destinations. I am pleased to approve the amendment to the bylaws as proposed.

The GPSA continues to be a conscientious advocate for all students. As Cornell’s student populations increase in diversity and in international origins, the work of the Diversity & International Students Committee will play an important role in bringing the concerns of these groups to university leadership.
