Dear President Skorton,

I am pleased to report that at our meeting on Monday, March 26, 2012, the GPSA unanimously adopted Resolution 11, updating our Byline Procedures and Criteria for Fiscal Years 2013 and 2014. These documents automatically expire, and require updating in conjunction with the passage of a new activity fee.

Pursuant to a letter from the President, dated March 1, 1999, the authority to set and allocate the activity fees, and to prescribe the guidelines and criteria, has been delegated to the constituent assemblies. However, amendments to these procedures and criteria require your approval, and so I transmit this resolution to you with that purpose. [1]

For the most part, the changes clarify existing policy. The only substantive change to which I wish to draw your attention is the addition of a line to subsection (g) of Appendix A of the Criteria, the portion of this document which governs the GPSA’s relationship with the Slope Day Programming Board. The added line reads: “he Slope Day Programming Board shall provide free admission to all graduate and professional students.” The GPSA debated this language a great deal, and arrived at this after thoroughly considering all possible options.
