From the Cornell Assemblies
Dear President Skorton, Provost Fuchs, Dean Power, and Dean Fry,
Attached, please find a GPSA resolution passed last night at our business meeting: “R.8 Regarding Support for the Observance of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.”
Given previous conversations this year with Dean Fry, we understand the complications that go along with formulating the Cornell Academic Calendar, but as author Mario Guerrero pointed out last night, with it being Black History Month, this resolution is timely for the year, though perhaps overdue in the grand scheme.
We understand that this is a complicated year for the University, and these complications will not go away soon. Nevertheless, please keep this in your records as a show of support, and hopefully conversations about the spring academic calendar can be had, just as they are being had about the fall calendar.
Many thanks, Michelle Leinfelder President, GPSA
