From the Cornell Assemblies
Whereas the Student Assembly recently passed resolution 21 calling for a halt to the registration of new Student Organizations with the Student Activities Office; and Whereas, the resolution does not distinguish between groups according to their constituency; and
Whereas, student organizations applying for funding from the GPSAFC need to be registered with the Student Activities Office; and
Whereas said resolution states that “a moratorium on the registration of new student organizations for a period of one semester will provide an opportunity to adequately assess and audit currently registered student organizations and the method by which they are allocated funding” and the GPSA recognizes the intention and need to review allocation procedures for the SAFC; and
Whereas, however, such measures are not needed to ensure a similar review of GPSAFC funding guidelines;
Be it therefore resolved that the moratorium does not apply to groups with more than 40% graduate and professional student constituents,
Be it finally resolved that this resolution be sent to Susan Murphy, Vice President for student and academic services, Kent Hubbell, Dean of Students, Catherine A. Holmes Associate Dean of Students and Joseph Scaffido, Assistant Dean of Students.
Respectfully submitted,
Nighthawk Evensen
Chairman, GPSA Finance Commission
Ryan Lavin
President, Student Assembly
Joern Kupferschmidt
Chairman, Funding Policy Comittee
