R.6 Graduate and Professional Student Support of Academic Integrity at Cornell University

Whereas, the principles of academic integrity include adherence to a set of values most essential to an academic community including research, teaching, and learning; and

Whereas, the principles of academic integrity are grounded on the concept of honesty and respect for the intellectual efforts of oneself and others; and

Whereas, the principles of academic integrity are the responsibility of every Cornell student in both individual performance and collective maintenance in all academic undertakings; and,

Whereas, the UA Subcommittee on Academic Integrity recognizes a campus-wide challenge to maintain a consistent and honorable level of academic integrity among faculty, staff, and students; and

Whereas, the UA Subcommittee on Academic Integrity recognizes inconsistent enforcement of and education about the University’s Code of Academic Integrity; and

Whereas, the UA Subcommittee on Academic Integrity has made a call for a campus-wide education campaign for the purpose of increasing awareness and responsibilities of all Cornellians for upholding the highest academic standards of integrity;

Be it resolved that, the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly supports the ongoing efforts of the UA Subcommittee on Academic Integrity, and will do our part in upholding the highest academic honor at this university.
