R. 5: A Resolution regarding Allocation of Funding for Slope Day 2008
Whereas in 2000 former Cornell President Hunter Rawlings charged the President’s Council on Alcohol and other Drugs to ensure that Slope Day is welcoming to the entire Cornell Community, and;
Whereas in both the Springs of 2006 and 2007, the GPSA voted to allocate $4000 from its byline funding towards Slope Day - $2000 for the non-alcoholic Slope Fest and $2000 for talent on the condition that the Slope Day Steering Committee make an effort to include graduate students in the planning of Slope Day, and that this group follow the appropriate legalities as laid out in the GPSA charter to apply for Byline funding in the fall of 2007; and
Whereas the current GPSA has approved Slope Day to be a byline funded organization for the 2008–2010 funding cycle.
Whereas encouraging Graduate and Professional Students to become involved in the planning of and participation in Slope Day activities will foster and encourage a safer environment with more appeal to the graduate and professional students, and;
Whereas a continued fiscal investment will help in pursing these goals.
Be it therefore resolved that the Graduate & Professional Student Assembly $4,000 dollars to the Slope Day Programming Board, half of which shall be used for Slopefest, with the other half funding talent, and;
Be it finally resolved that this resolution be sent to the Co-Chairs of the Slope Day Steering Committee, Dean of Students Kent Hubbell and Slope Day Programming Board Chair Liz Rapoport.
Respectfully Submitted,
