GPSA: R. 1: Regarding Divestment from Oil Companies Operating in Sudan

Passed Monday, 28 August 2006 in Assembly.

We, the Graduate and Professional Students Assembly (GPSA) of 2006–2007 do whole-heartedly endorse President Skorton’s stand on the divestment decision in oil companies operating in Sudan, recently announced in concurrence with the Investment Committee and Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees. We of the GPSA concur that divestment is not a panacea, but recognize that this begins a series of actions to stand up for the people of Darfur. With this vote we support President Skorton and Biddy Martin in dialogue and deliberations on further response to this crisis.
