5:30–7:30 p.m.

I. Welcome and Introduction — A. Beggs

A. Beggs described the COR and said that it includes at least 1 representative from each field. Every field can elect representatives.

A. Beggs also went over the GPSA Charter.

II. Call for Committee Involvement — GPSA Officers

The officers said to be involved in committees!

III. Presentations by Committee Chairs

a. Pay & Benefits — J. Sullivan

J. Sullivan talked about the goals of the Pay & Benefits Committee and things this committee has done. He said that members of this committee can put in as many hours as they want.

b. GPSAFC — Yu Yu

Yu Yu talked about the GPSAFC (finance commission) and its tasks. She said that the GPSAFC only meets up three times a semester, or six times an academic year.

c. Funding Policy — A. Fatale

A. Fatale was unable to attend the meeting so T. McConnochie took his place and talked about the funding policy.

d. Events — J. Vertesi

J. Vertesi talked about many goals she’s had in mind and about the ball that was held last spring.

e. GCMHW, and other University Committees — Z. Wang

Z. Wang told everyone to fill in applications due 9/19 that was attached to the agenda.

f. Transportation and parking committees — T. McConnochie and D. Roth

T. McConnochie described what the committee does and that it was created by the Red Bud Woods issue.

g. Communications and proxy presentation for D. Mitarotonda — A. Beggs

A. Beggs described what this committee does and some background information about it.

IV. Call for dissertation study participants — V. Blodgett

V. Blodgett described the study.

V. Diversity Week and Diversity Arch — Dean T. Plater

Dean Plater talked about open minds and open hearts and how it means that students are open in every way. She said that 9/26 is diversity week. There will be an ice cream flavor to celebrate.

The red open hearts and mind doorway is in front of every college and will be decorated.

VI. Election of 2 Master’s Degree Assembly seats

There were 2 nominees, Scott Sanders and M. Bhadauria . An assembly member moved to not vote. There was no objections to appointing them.

VII. 2005–2006 goal setting and open forum

A member wanted to fundraise for Katrina, Yu Yu said that the English Department has a fundraiser. There are 27 Tulane graduate students.

Mike Urban said that from 10/14–10/18 an organization will sponsor an event.

A member asked about environmental issues.

A. Beggs said that goals will be discussed at the next meeting.

VIII. Adjournment

A. Beggs adjourned the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
