Graduate and Professional Student Assembly
Minutes

April 11, 2005
5:30–7:00 p.m.
Victoria said May 5 is the deadline for the childcare application.
Joshua said that the financial aid has changed and fellowships cannot be counted as income. Many people might not be able to get loans. However this change will not effect international students.
H. Etienne commented on the article and said there are some factual inaccuracies in the chronicle about the GPSA, despite the fact that he made the people aware of the mistakes.
B. Holmes said that it is an elaborate process to help fund slope day because they would need to suspend rules in order to have what they want. In addition many grad students are against Slope Day. However, certain people feel very strongly about it.
A lot of people were dancing at the ball and there were a lot of good comments about the ball. It should definitely be done again. 194 tickets were sold and the ball was very successful.
B. Holmes discussed/explained the phases of the resolution that would make the student trustee election more fair. The first phase for student trustee elections is finished.
At 6:00pm the council was called to recess.
R.8 was described my Michelle. 12:1 passed the amendment. A second amendment 11:1 passed. 13 people were in favor with 1 abstention of the amendment.
R.9 13 in favor 1 opposed, Brian abstained and it was passed.
R.10 13 in favor 1 opposed, Brian abstained and it was passed.
R.11 13 in favor 1 opposed, Brian abstained and it was passed.
At 6:45pm B. Holmes adjourned the assembly meeting. At 6:45pm the COR meeting was restarted by H. Etienne. Then people went into their respective caucuses.
