Information for Candidates

The following positions will be filled via this regular election.

Any full-time�student�in an undergraduate degree program who will be on campus for the 2016–2017 academic year is eligible for a position. Positions designated for a specific college require candidates to be a member of that academic constituency. The term for all of these positions is the 2016–2017 academic year. The deadline for registration is Monday, February 29 at 12:00pm (noon).

University Assembly Positions

There are two directly elected positions for undergraduates on the University Assembly that are elected during this cycle. Candidates in this race will follow the same procedures as those in Student Assembly races.

How to Register as a Candidate

  1. Read through the Student Assembly Election Rules fully, available in the next section, and be familiar with the other campus governance documents (including, but not limited to, the Campus Code of Conduct).
  2. Fill out the online registration form:https://cornell.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_dhboiFMPT0xNJc1
  3. Gather the appropriate number of signatures using the petition form. Submit your petition forms to the Office of the Assemblies (109 Day Hall) by the registration deadline for the election (Monday, February 29, at noon). Note: We recommend that you collect 20% more than the number of signatures listed below. You must collect Student ID numbers (not NetIDs) in order for a signature to count. College/school specific positions require signatures from full-time undergraduate students registered in that specific college/school. Candidates for At-Large positions can collect signatures from any full-time undergraduate students.
    • At least 300 signatures for President and Executive Vice President
    • At least 150 signatures for all other At-Large seats
    • Al least 100 signatures for Arts and Sciences seats
    • At least 75 signatures for all other seats
  4. Attend the Mandatory Campaigning Meeting, 5:00pm-6:30pm on Monday, February 29, 2016.
  5. Attend at least one Student Assembly general body meeting.
  6. Apply to serve on at least one Student Assembly Committee. You can apply online:�http://assembly.cornell.edu/dash/index.html#staffing/
  7. Submit the candidate Expense Report to the Office of the Assemblies by 4:00pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

Candidates and supporters acting on their behalf may not before the commencement of campaigning (campaigning begins on Tuesday, March 1):
