Sam Morrison (shm89)
Hi! My name is Sam Morrison and I deeply care about Cornell. I learned through the Cornell website that the board of trustees boasts “supreme control” over the university. It is the most powerful governing body at Cornell, and there is just one undergraduate student of 64 members! So my primary motive as your student trustee will be to efficiently and aggressively work to empower student voices. 1) I will delegate more power to the Student Assembly, our only student government body. 2) I will increase financial transparency of the university and the deliberations of the board. 3) I will constantly make outreach efforts to the student population to ensure that I understand and can genuinely express student interests. To me, supreme control just sounds unhealthy. I believe that no matter your opinion on tuition hikes, the student health fee, or Cornell’s next construction project, you should be involved in these decisions. Empower yourself. Vote Sam Morrison.
