Ben Bacharach (bsb87)
Hey ILR! My name is Ben Bacharach and I currently serve as one of the freshman at large representatives on the SA. I have been working on variety of projects including an initiative to expand freshman- upperclassmen relationships, the creation of a new online events calendar and the allocation of money to student suggested infrastructure projects and I am excited to take on new projects in the future that directly impact ILR. As a representative I was able to see Cornell from a different perspective. Cornell is a great institution but there is immense amount of room for improvement. First, the administration has to be held more accountable to the shared governance bodies at Cornell. Too often resolutions are passed only to be turned down by the president a few weeks later. The SA has to make clear to the administration that these resolutions are to be taken seriously since they come directly from the student body. Second, students have the right to financial transparency. This year tuition went up by $1380 plus a $350 health fee. Students should know exactly what they are getting for these price increases. As ILR rep I will work to make these statements a reality and be an extension of your voice in the SA.
