Education Committee report - Meeting 1

Attendees: Lavanya G Sayam, Katherine Fahey, Melissa Jane Kitchen
- Discussed the objective of Education Committee. Need to add a blurb on EA website indicating expectations and need.
- Education Committee will be the voice of EA towards creating awareness of existent educational opportunities for employees at Cornell and be an active catalyst in motivating employees towards pursuing them.
- Most employees are unaware that they can take a 4 CR class through the extra mural program free of charge.
- Discrepancy between tuition charged for EDP candidates at different schools in Cornell. Melissa will be talking with her colleague regarding gaining more information.
- Contact person for employees regarding discrepancies regarding tuition/taxes charged in the EDP.
- Staff notes to be followed to determine more information regarding EDP/taking classes at Cornell.
- Possibility of contacting the recent EDP grads to solicit their input.
- Asking Mary Operman if supervisors are encouraged to be supportive of employees interested in taking classes/EDP.
