EA E-News -- January 2013
Employee Assembly (EA) elections are coming up. We will hold an information session on January 29, candidate registration materials are due by February 4, voting will be online from February 11 to 22, and results should be posted by March 1. Check out the election website for complete details.
If you are interested in advancing the interests of the staff but do not wish to serve on the EA, please consider sitting on one of Cornell’s many shared governance committees. These committees are essential to make EA an effective voice for Cornell’s staff, require a smaller time commitment than EA service, and offer an opportunity to contribute your views on a focused set of topics in which you have particular interest or expertise. Contact ea-vcoperations@assembly.cornell.edu orapply online.
Committees are working tirelessly to address many of the key points mentioned in the employee survey and in the near future some open forums on their progress will be held across campus so look out for dates, times, and locations. Alan Mittman, the employee-elected trustee, will attend these forums.
We are still accepting kudos for staff you recognize as going above and beyond their job duties. Help highlight these individuals by submitting a kudos and getting them recognized by the wider Cornell community. Kudos givers and receivers will be invited to a Kudos luncheon at the end of the academic year.
Nominate a colleague for the George Peter Award for Dedicated Service. This award goes to staff members who consistently demonstrate a high degree of excellence in the performance of their duties and go above and beyond the normal expectations of their job responsibilities to help others. This is the oldest running and most prestigious peer-nominated honor that can be bestowed upon a Cornell employee.
