EA: Resolution Extending Term Limits for Employee Assembly Officers

Whereas the Employee Assembly (the Assembly) executive leadership positions currently have one year terms.

Whereas officers of the Assembly may hold a specific office for a maximum of two consecutive terms.

Whereas the benefits to the Assembly and to the employee community it represents of continuity of leadership outweigh the risks of allowing officers to serve a third consecutive term so as to give the Assembly leadership more time to move forward employee issues.

Whereas, regardless of the number of consecutive terms a member is allowed to serve in a position, the Assembly provides numerous mechanisms to assure new members are able to join the Assembly and to assume leadership positions within the Assembly regardless of incumbent status.

Resolved the word “two” in second sentence of Article 4, Section 2 of the Assembly’s bylaws be struck and replaced with “three” so the sentence reads, “ Officers may not serve more than three consecutive terms.”

Respectfully submitted,

Tanya Grove
Chair, Employee Assembly
